This is a very simple and tasty recipe for ‘pre-meal nibbles’

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry
  • Ham Jam
  • Good quality Leg Ham, sliced then torn up into small random shapes and sizes
  • Grated Mature Cheddar – more mature is better
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked up

Let's start cooking

Pre-heat your over to 200C. Lay out the pastry sheet, spread on some Ham Jam, not too thick or it will squeeze out the sides and burn. Put the ham pieces randomly on the sheet, not totally covering it. Lightly cover with grated cheese. Lightly season with salt and pepper – not too much. Roll up the pastry sheet into a long ‘sausage’. Brush the outside of the pastry with the egg wash. Cut into 2cm thick ‘wheels’. Lay onto a baking sheet – large side down. Put a pinch more grated cheese on top of each wheel, and a final pinch of pepper.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they go crispy looking. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes (otherwise you will burn your mouth!), then try to resist eating them all in one go!

Really good and simple and can be prepared the day before and kept in the fridge before baking or even frozen! You can also mix up the flavours, and use different cold cuts, cheeses and Spoonfed products. You could use the Snag Jam with a really strong salami and some proper Buffalo mozzarella, or some prosciutto, some fresh basil, and the Snag Jam for a crispy and ‘caprese’ twist!
